Wine and extreme temperature do not go along together

Temperature variations during storage or transport have more dreadful impact on wine than usually figured.

A slot between 40° and 75°F degrees is regarded as acceptable pour a few weeks of transportation – the ideal slot being rather between 50° and 65°F.

A long exposure to temperatures above 80°F can have irretrievable damages on the wine quality. But negative temperatures can also ruin a wine forever.

All above-mentioned consequences have the same characteristics: they are time-linear

 and exponential when temperature rises.

Transport vin conservation

A transport-related issue

Even if wine is frequently transported in refrigerated containers, it does not eliminate all risks: cooling system being unplugged during transport, sudden temperature change during a transshipment, container position in the cargo ship or long-term stay in the sun during custom checkings.

The last-mile issue is also very important: wine bottles are (too) often neglected on the pavement in front of the restaurant’s door before being stored in the cellar.

Wine is not like cheese or meat, which are regulated by strict policies. There is a lack of efficient solutions for wine producers to enforce strict transport conditions from the winery to their final customers.

Beaucarnea, the solution for Fine Wines

To limit chemical and bacteriological risks and extend the life of the wine, respecting the “cold chain” is key. Wine can no longer be seen or carried as a simple convenience.

For producers and consumers, Beaucarnea is a key way of preserving the quality of the finest wines.
